Voice Recognition

Out-of-towners in certain northeastern cities can now make a call on their cell phones and order a celebrity-guided tour for $5.95, according to Marla Lehner reporting for Fox News. Pressing a cell phone to his ear, a tourist can follow a map while listening to Sigourney Weaver's recorded voice murmur cultural tidbits and directions around Lower Manhattan. In Boston, the voice belongs to Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler, father of Lord of the Rings' actress Liv Tyler. Within two years, visitors in twenty more United States cities will have access to the same service.

Talking Street markets itself to people desiring to escape the "herd" mentality of large bandwagon tour groups and strangers shouting at them through megaphones on street corners. The service is about personal connection and intimacy and a savvy knowledge of the area.

Are you lost or disoriented? Do you feel you're wandering in a strange place, and don't know where to turn? Would you like a familiar, trusted voice to guide you around the potholes of life to a good destination? Jesus Christ said in John 10:27-28 (KJV), My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

God's walking-tours are available anywhere, anytime, and they are absolutely free to those who ask. He's incredibly street-smart and knows every turn in the road. For a big God, His voice may sound still and small, but don't lose faith. When the prophet Elijah fled the wicked Queen Jezebel, he looked for God to holler to him where to go. There were hurricane-force winds, and an earthquake, and fire. But God wasn't in any of them. And after the fire a still small voice. (1 Kings 19:12 KJV.)

Follow the map God's given in His Word, the Bible, and practice listening when He talks. Soon there won't be any doubt when it's Him speaking. He's speaking all the time.

Do you recognize His voice?
