BOOT CAMP
Part 2
Then the Bible said in Luke 11;35, if you'd like to turn
there. I'll just let you kinda settle down a minute. Amen, let's look and see
what IT says. Luke 11 and the 35 verse reads like this, "Take heed, therefore,
that the Light which is in thee be not darkness. If the whole body, therefore,
be full of Light, having no place dark, the whole shall be full of Light, as
when the bright shinning of a candle doth give thee Light." Now He said take
Heed or take care, okay? Let's go back up there and read that a little bit more.
The 33 rd. verse, "no man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth under a secret
place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they who come in may
see the Light. The Light of the Body is the eye; therefore, when thine eye is
single, thy whole body also is full of Light; but when thine eye is evil, thy
body is also full of darkness. Take heed, therefore that the Light which
is in thee be not of darkness. If thy whole body, therefore, be full of Light,
having no place dark, the whole shall be full of Light, as when the bright shinning
of a candle doth give thee Light." Now listen, that is, if the whole heart is
full of Light, no darkness in it; but if you've got a door, if there's something
inside of you that's rebelling against God, or rebelling against the REVEALED
WORD OF GOD,, then there's a door that's not open, then the whole heart is not
Light, then satan has a beachhead. Now I want you to bear with me. He had something
he had began to work on. You say, well, I don't know, I don't even know
whether I like this kind of preaching or not. Well, that's alright, I don't
know whether I do either. I ain't never heard it before, so we'll just go on
and see if we do. Okay, Proverbs alright. Amen, the Bookof Proverbs. I want
to show you something, by the help of the Lord now, if I can. Amen, look what
IT says in the Book of Proverbs now. I'm gonna show you what THAT Light is.
You say, well, that Light's God. That Light's God's Word. That's the Truth.
Well, let me just go on a little bit further, Amen, and show you what THAT Light
really is ! Proverbs 20;27, if You've got your Bible. I want to read it to you.
Do you Love the Lord? Well, glory to God, somebody said,"bring Him on. Let's
take Him on." Well, let's see if we're able. The 27th. verse reads like this,
"The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord." Now if you've got another Translation,
it says like this, "The Spirit of the Lord is the Lamp or the Light of the Lord."
The spirit of who? The spirit of man ! Not the Spirit of God, the spirit of
man. The spirit of man is the Candle of the Lord searching all the inward parts
of the belly. Well, we know it's not talking about the belly down here where
the intestines are at, but searching the innermost being of the person. Now
what is the spirit? What search is that now? The spirit of man, but we know
it's not the carnal man, because the carnal man didn't never see nothing wrong
in it, but it's when you've died to the old man, crucified him, buried him,
and let a new ONE raise inside of you. Are you listening to me? Then that New
ONE raising inside of you then, Brother Branham said the nature of the Spirit
is the Soul, okay? He said when that old soul dies, listen to me now. It's crucified,
whatever you want to call IT, dies, crucified, eradicated, he said then there's
a little something down inside of you, we jsut call it a seed, germ whatever,
he said then that is BIRTH, there's a BIRTH of Christ in YOU. Are you listening?
Amen, then he said that becomes the nature of that spirit. Is that alright?
It becomes the nature of that spirit, then when that becomes the nature of that
spirit, it's still your spirit, it's just got a different nature on IT. Can
you say Amen? And, with God's nature on YOUR spirit, it will begin to search
the innermost parts of your life. Well, what do you think it is that condemns
you? It's not my preaching, because I'm not around all the time when you think
them thoughts you ought not to think ! I ain't around all the time when you
say things you ought not to say, same as you ain't around when I think them.
But there's something inside me that will condemn me, there's something inside
me that will cause me to want to repent and get away from things like that.
What is it? It's God's nature on my spirit, searching the innermost being of
me, and I want to lay open every thought, I want every door opened, I want every
beachhead done away with, I want everything from the Light of the Lord to search
out everything that's onside me that's unlike God. And, if you don't then there's
darkness there, then there's a beachhead for satan. Then, he'll begin an asault
from there, okay? You say, now Brother Carroll. Okay? Go with me to 11
Corinthians real quickly, Amen. Do you love the Lord? Maybe this ain't fast
and hard, but if you'll listen to it. I love Him, don't you? You say, now, Brother
Carroll. But, I just appreciate everything God's doing in this hour that I'm
living in. Now listen to what Paul said. He was talking about the samething
we're talking about this morning. The third verse, 10th. chapter of 11 Corinthians,
" For though we walk in the flesh, for though we walk in the flesh, we do not
war after the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty
through God to the pulling down of strongholds, Casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing
into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." Do you realize that
there's a place in your life and my life that the Spirit of God can bring every
thought to the obedience of Jesus Christ? The Holy Spirit can bring every thought
to the obedience of Christ. Whatever it might be. Let's stay on this awhile
now. We're talking about the devil, the asault of the devil, pulling down strongholds.
Are you still with me? Well you say, what is a stronghold? It's a beachhead.
Now in the days of old and David was out running, Amen, from Saul and different
places, a stronghold might have been a cave, isolated, back on the side of a
mountain somewhere, be hard to approach. Or a stronghold in our day would probably
be a Navy Yard, an Army Camp, or whatever, but we're not talking about a natural
stronghold. We're not talking about natural beachheads. Our Warfare is not carnal,
it's not fleshly, but it's Spiritual. In other words to put it in the language
I guess that Webster would put it in, a fortified place, used as a place of
protection from an enemy. Just like us, we claim a lot of the time, we say,
in the Name of the Lord as a strong Tower and the Righteous runneth into IT
and there they find safety. It becomes a stronghold. So, He's Our Brother, He's
Our strength. But let's talk about some strongholds that satan has got if we're
not careful, and one of those strongholds is the wrong attitude. A wrong attitude
that either partially or altogether descends your old lifestyle. Our attitudes,
when the Word of God comes and uncovers things in our life that ought not to
be there, and when the Spirit of the Lord begins to look down in our lives,
our attitude toward God. Listen, let's just say adultry. We all know adultry
is wrong. Let's just say that if we're commiting adultry and somebody
gets up and all at once they bring it out, you know, Amen, and all at once that
Light begins to shine down in your heart and you begin to look around you, Amen,
to see if anybody else is seeing what you're thinking. You know what I'm
talking about? Amen, but then all at once, that satan will begin to talk to
you and you'll begin to resent what that man is saying, You'll begin resenting
that Word of God that condemns you, Amen, for your immoral life that you're
living. Are you listening to me? You'll begin to resent that and you don't want
to have that. Not only adultry, anything in your life that would be unlawful
for God, Amen, that be there. Sure, you say well, I don't know so much about
that. Well, let's talk about that awhile, your attitude. Who does that guy think
he is? Who does that preacher think he is? I probably live better than he does.
No doubt that you do, except for your adultry. Are you still istening to me?
See, that one thing just keeps on hammering and the next thing you know, he's
got a wrong attitude. Then he'll begin to descend his way of life. He'll go
back and he'll try to pull out Polygamy from the Old Testament and bring it
into the New Testament. He'll begin to descend everything, what David had a
thousand wives, Solomon had 3,000, sure. Huh? Then he'll begin to descend his
past lifestyle and his attitude is wrong toward the Word of God, then satan
has a stronghold. He has a beachhead in your life, and a stronghold in your
life, and he's got a place to work out from. Amen, your attitude toward the
man that will condemn you of it or preach against it is wrong. Then you begin
to exalt yourself above all that is called God. What is called God? His Word
! Bless God, I don't care what he says. He's got a stronghold. But now Paul
said that we pull down strongholds and so when we realize then, that there's
things in our life that satan has a hold of us, and still having the wrong attitude,
instead of exalting ourselves, above all what's called God, we need to just
repent. Adultry is not going to send you to hell. Oh you say, adultry ain't
going to send you to hell? No if you repent.
1 John 1;9 says if we confess our sins, God is just and He shall forgive.
Now adultry don't send you to hell, un-confessed sins do. But, if we
go against God and exalt ourselves above that and say I don't care what he
says, I'm gonna do what I want to do, nothing wrong with IT. Then he's got
a stronghold that's gotta be pulled down. Now I'm gonna tell you something
today my friends, I want you to listen to me. If you are Elect of God and
you really a Christian, and if you have really been borned again, God will
pull IT down. It may not be to your liking, you may not like the way God does
IT, but God will pull IT down. He'll see that it will come down, God has His
way. But sometimes our attitude can be wrong. Amen, so that's a stronghold.
I don't mean to just keep hitting on that, but here's a stronghold. Can you
say Amen?
11 Corinthians, the 3 rd Chapter, real quickly, Amen, you say well, I don't
know so much about that. Well, that's what we are talking about. You say,
well now, you know Brother Carroll, you know this thing goes this way and
this thing goes that, I know. I really do. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves
to think anything is of ourselves, but our sufficience is of God. I like that.
It's not that we do it, but it's as we submit ourselves to God through repentence,
through a heart that's feeling sorry and saying, look God, I got trapped in
this thing. Satan just snuck it over on me. That's not a good word, is it?
But, he just snuck it over on me, said Lord, she was beautiful, or he or whatever.
Instead of exalting ourselves, become ascending it, high-minding it, pride
in our lives, we just fall on our faces and say, God help me, tear it down.
I'm not sufficient to do it, I don't have the power, my flesh is weak God.
You know I want to live right, you know I want these things to be right in
my life, but I just don't have the power, you tear it down God. My sufficiency
is not in myself. I can't destroy the strong towers or the strongholds, it
takes God. Are you still listening to me? You say now......What? Just attitudes
is the only thing, Brother Carroll? Not really, just any type of thinking
that exalts itself above the Knowledge of God. It don't make no difference
what it is. Huh? Where was we at awhile ago? Amen, let's go to 1 Corinthians
real quickly and we'll hurry along. Do you love the Lord? Amen, we find out
in the 10th chapter there that Israel, Amen, that they eat the same Spiritual
drink, or they drank of the Spiritual Rock that followed them and the Rock
was Christ. This is in 1 Corinthians 10;3 and 4," But with many of them
God was not well pleased for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now,
these things are an example to the intent that we should not lust after evil
things as they also lusted, neither be idolaters as some of them is. It is
written, the people sat down to eat, and drink, and rose up to play."
Are you still listening to me? You say, now I don't know, I just absolutely
don't know. Listen friends, don't say I just got the Holy Ghost and there
ain't nothing can bother me. Let him that thinketh he's standing, take heed,
lest he fall. One more time, back to 11 Corinthians, Amen, the 10th chapter,
"And we do not war after the flesh for the weapons of our warfare are
not carnal, but mighty through God." Not our sufficiency, not the thing,
the Power that the flesh has, but our sufficiency is through God, through
the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
We was laughing the other day about, you know when you get behind somebody
and you're already 10 minutes late and you're trying to get there 20 minutes
early and you ought to have left an hour earlier but you didn't and somebody
in front of you just poking along, you know just looking around and looking
around, you know just ain't got a worry in the world and ain't got no time
to be there and nowhere to go, and you're saying, God I don't want them to
have a flat tire, just let them think they've got one. Just let them think
they've got one God, where they'll pulloff, you know what I'm talking about.
I read this little article in a magazine, it said they used to leave St.
Louis, Missouri and it would take three months to cross the west and it said
now we ain't hardly got time to wait for the revolving door to come around
for our time to get in it. That's just where we are. No patience, no anything.
And I know it's not within my flesh, it's not within my sufficiency, it's
within God, and God I need your help. Can you say Amen to that? My thinking,
that's what I've got to crucify more than anything. Oh I think it ought to
be this way, I believe it ought to be a....it's not what you think, it's not
what you believe, it is what God says. Can you say Amen to that? And I thought,
well, you know, gotta bring every one of them captive, He said, to the Word
of God. And another one of these thimgs is more than just pride, and more
than just your attitude toward anything.
But you know there's something else I'd like to talk about, Amen, that I
hear so manytimes where I am, Amen. You know, somebody says Brother Carroll,
I tried and I'm just a failure. Oh, you know I want to live right and I want
to go to Church, I need to do this, I need to do that, I need to straighten
up my life, but I'm just a failure. I've got a habit. Everywhere I go nearly.
I get up most of the time and leave Jean in the bed, I go get me a cup of
coffee and I walk in and they says "How Are You?" I say "Wonderful
!" You know, I may be half dead, but I'm WONDERFUL. I refuse to think
negative. I absolutely refuse to think negative. I absolutely refuse to think
failure. I want to take it out of my vocabulary. I don't even want it in it.
Well, Brother Carroll, but you're just human. But, He that is in me is greater
that he that is in the world. Huh? And through Him, all things are possible.
But, they've got people to the place they go around with their head down,
you know and saying. well, you know that satan is against me, that devil,
he's giving me a hard time, and you'll exalt him to the high heavens. Can
you say Amen? I don't ever want to say I'm a failure. Nope, if I've ever said
it before, I want to repent of it and get up and ask God to forgive me, Amen,
for my unbelief. Your unbelief? Yeah!, believing I'm a failure. How can a
borned again, Son of God, after all things and all Power working inside Him
could ever be a failure? How could I be a failure???????When I've got the
Power in me to say to a Mountain, be moved and a tree be plucked up? How can
I, a Son of God, Heir to all things, ever be a failure? Oh, I might be a failure
in your eyes, I won't say that, my kids eyes, my wife's, but not IN GOD'S
EYES ! I don't even like the word failure. Why, because I can do all things
through Christ which strengthens me. Yeah ! I want to arrest that thought,
don't you? I want to arrest it, I want to tear it down, I want to pull it
down, I want to bring it into captive of that Scripture that says I can do
all things. I'm not a failure. You say, well you ain't got the biggest church
in the world. Who wants it? I like what one old preacher from Nashville said
one time. He said, "Much people, much trouble. Few people, few trouble.
No people, no trouble."
The end of part 2.
